Ricardo Càstro, Cartas na Mesa (Cards on the Table), 2015-2016, Performance
Cards on the Table is an oracular-performative piece, elaborated by artist Ricardo Càstro, which consists of the activation of a divination game of cards. The performance is undertaken in an installation composed of colourful objects made from the combination of natural crystals and manufactured materials.
For each card from the pack, the artist has developed a specific instruction. The instructions refer to a theme that points towards the reconnection between humans and nature, and in most cases, demand the movement of the objects installed in the space. Each individual then rearranges the installation based on their free interpretation of whatever ‘fate’ was delivered in that selected card.
